| We're Getting Married! | | | It's been another exciting summer and to top it all off, I asked my girlfried Annmarie Carter to marry me! She said yes and we set the date for December 29th in her hometown of Greenville, NC. Annie and I had been dating for a year, and we could both sense the Lord leading us together toward marriage. Annie grew up in Greenville, NC and currently lives in Burlington, NC where she has been working as a counselor at Elon University. Burlington is about a 2 hour drive from Charlotte, so as you can imagine we've put a few miles on our cars this past year. Annie is now looking for work in Charlotte as she finishes up her time at Elon before the wedding. We both feel so blessed and excited about the wedding and the life together that the Lord has for us. | | Quick Links Register Now The Charlotte Eagles Soccer Camps are always an exciting part of the Charlotte Eagles ministry, showing kids the love of Christ

The exciting summer soccer season has come to an end, but it hasn't put a halt to the work. This time of year I have my plate full with preparations for the the Charlotte Eagles Annual Banquet. I am also in the process of developing a new website for both MAI and the Charlotte Eagles to be more effective tools of sharing our ministry. Then of course there are all the details in putting together our wedding which is now less than three months away! Annie has done a great job, and I pitch in where I can be helpful
GIVE THE TEACHER AN APPLE!
Believe it or not I've stepped into the world of teaching. I've been given a great opportunity to share my skills in webdesign with junior high and senior high students, two days a week at a nearby school called Grace Academy. It's been a new and fun experience seeking to have an impact in the lives of these kids. | | | Another Great Summer in the History Books This summer has been another exciting one here with Missionary Athletes International and the Charlotte Eagles Soccer Club. Our men's pro team and women's w-league team was made up of a great group of individuals from as close as Charlotte, NC to as far away as Zimbabwe, Africa. These players came together for a summer season of high level soccer, sports ministry training, soccer camp and clinic coaching, public appearances, and with the desire to be Christian role models to kids and fans. - full story | | REFLECTIONS FROM CAMP The 2007 Camp theme was "Glory Road" - "Take a right turn at the cross!" This year the camp program was diversified to reach more people and in new age groups than were previously reached through our camp program. We continued our tradition youth soccer camps for the elementary to middle school aged kids and added more out of town camps. Additionally we increased our involvement in the inner-city and with the Hispanic community with camps offered specifically for those groups. Team camp was where we really took the next step. Our high school team camp was an over-night camp, which provided our players and staff the opportunity to go deeper, with more focused time with the kids. Our college team camp which first began in 2006 with four college teams, increased to seven teams this year. Team camps are an exciting time to not just minister, but to all train college aged Christian athletes in sports ministry and show them how to use their soccer talents and Christian faith together to serve and to share God's love. "We had a fantastic time. These camps the past two years have certainly transformed our team. Last year during our season, two players accepted Christ. I know that was due in part to the seeds planted at the Eagles' event." Coach Jonathan Lenarz - Southern Wesleyan College Men's Soccer Quote from High School Team camp: "There were two commitments to Christ during the camp and wide-spread interest among the boys in furthering their relationship with Christ. That is exciting confirmation that the camp was well worth all the exhausting effort of all those who made it possible and great confirmation that the mission of the Charlotte Eagles is well-placed. I cannot say enough how much I respect and appreciate your staff and their commitment to Christ and sports ministry. The boys were led into new areas of their walks with Christ and inspired to play great soccer and live great lives. I know that participation in this camp took quite some effort and rearrangement of plans by the Eagles, but I am so grateful that your organization saw what a blessing this partnership could be for all those involved." - Mark Nichols, Camp partner | | Sports Ministry Training in Kenya & Ethiopia A team of seven headed off to Africa last Friday on a Isaiah 6 Sports Ministry Trip. The group will be training a few coaches in a highly Muslim populated area of Kenya before traveling to Ethiopia to partner with Sports Friends in a larger conference where they'll teach Christian coaches how to be life infleuncers through soccer. A few of the guys with then head on to Nigeria to continue work there. They will be met by the Eagles pro team tour to Nigeria at the end of November.
